and never looked back."

It is with great honor and pleasure ForeverSpades Admin Team
awards this prestigious award for the third time to MEL4TONY2000

Melanie and her husband, Tony, reside in Houston Texas with their three children, Caitlin 11 years old, Noah 7 years old and Connor 3 years old. Mel is a stay-at-home mom having majored in sociology until Caitlin was on the way.  She was an assistant manager at Pier 1 Imports and worked at Po Folks Restaurant for four years.  Mel has one sister and one brother.

As a family, Mel, Tony and the three kids enjoy camping and swimming and “anything outdoors.”  Mel is an avid reader and, of course, loves playing spades with her “family” in the Beetle Spot.

Mel joined ForeverSpades on April 30, 2003.  Mel says, “There was an immediate feeling of family here, so much so I got a few of my friends to join too.  You can all blame me for Amy and Duain joining!”

Continuing, Mel states, “I’ve met quite a few people that I consider real friends here.  We have weathered a lot of things together, but stuck together just like a real family would.  I love the people here and appreciate them so much.”

Mel had been chosen to receive this prestigious award given by unanimous vote by the entire admin team.  Mel has shown complete loyalty, good sportsmanship and dedication to the league.

When learning of her award she stated, “Just when I think everyone couldn’t be any more great ya’ll go and do something even nicer!  I am truly honored and flattered and would just like to say thank you to everyone for making this such an awesome place.  There is no other league like ForeverSpades.  Thank you again, I love you guys!”

Thank you, Mel.....we love you too and appreciate your presence in the Beetle Spot so very much!!  You are very missed when you aren't there as you truly are part of the backbone of this league.

awards this prestigious award for the second time to JM468
Founder and Head Admin

Jan, the youngest of five siblings, grew up in a small town in central Minnesota.  In her senior year of high school she worked part-time at a bank as bookkeeper, sorter, and drive up teller.  This was for credits and called “On the Job Training” although the name has changed to DECA these days.

It was here she met her future husband and two years later they were married.  They have three children, one daughter and two sons.  They are still waiting for some grandbabies!

Jan was fortunate to be able to be a stay-at-home mom.  She sold Avon Products for eight years once her youngest son went to school and soon after that went back to college and got her nursing degree.  Jan worked as charge nurse on the evening shift for 14 years in a nursing home just 4 blocks from home.  “I loved my work at the nursing home….the residents became so dear to me and I felt I made their lives just a bit better with the care I gave to each one.”  Her work is the one thing she misses so very much after Jan and her husband of 37 ˝ years moved into the north lakes area and bought a home on a lake in preparation for retirement.

Currently Jan works part-time as a Pharmacy Technician and works from home as webmaster for two web sites and is in the process of working on another.  She enjoys reading, counted cross stitch, creating web pages and of course spades.

Jan states, “I belonged to a couple other leagues for a very short time before I realized what I wanted in a league, that being total honesty without any ladder manipulation.  One Sunday I just made this league and at the time had no idea exactly all it entailed.  It took about three or four days before I mentioned it to a friend of mine and she just….BANG…”let’s go woman!”  ForeverSpades began March 16, 2003 with the first tourney held on Sunday March 23, 2003.  “And here we are today with what I believe is one of the best around!”

Jan continues, “Thank you all for the wonderful experience this league has given me.  It will always be a part of my life.”

"I feel so loved and honored
to receive this award."

It is with great honor and pleasure ForeverSpades Admin Team awards this prestigious award for the first time to FERN_LADY.

Mary Jane (fern_lady), better known to us as NANNA, resides is South Carolina with her husband Bob.  They have five children and seven grandchildren.  Nanna joined ForeverSpades on April 15, 2003 and became a TD on June 5, 2003.  She went on to become a HTD and then an Admin, the position she now holds.

Nanna has given her heart and soul to this league, she is dedicated and loyal and she always shows good sportsmanship and honorable play.  Nanna is a team player on the admin team, always willing to give whatever is needed or asked of her and always willing to hear what others have to say.

Nanna lists as her hobbies, gardening, fishing, boating, bowling, home decorating, cross stitching and “last but not least playing spades with all my wonderful friends.”  Nanna retired as an equipment driver/inventory control clerk at BMG MUSIC and says, “Yes, I drove equipment LOL.”

Nanna says, “ForeverSpades is the Best league I have ever seen with loving, caring people that are willing to help others.  That is the entire league.  The league itself is member oriented.  After all, without members a league is just a name.”

Nanna continues by saying, “I wish to thank everyone that has stood by me/hubby in good times and in bad time and all the in-between times…You Rock!  I could go on for hours, I love our league and I feel so loved.  The day I joined I was made to feel that I was part of the family even through my mess ups and causing people to lose because I didn’t know how to play.  No one ever hurt my feelings about it.”

That first day was so impressionable to Nanna that she has become our ‘Welcome Committee.’  Nanna sends out welcome emails to all our new members to try to make them feel as welcomed as she did that first day.  She gets many returned to her thanking her for the welcome which makes Nannas day.

Congratulations Nanna.  I believe I speak for the entire league when I say, “you are so deserving of this award and thank you so very much for your love, dedication  and support of ForeverSpades.”
