As I sit here writing this, the dead of winter is being replaced by signs of Spring. Signs of new growth are popping up all over Texas. The bluebonnets are blooming, Indian paintbrushes are painting the sides of the Highways, and drive down any country road and you will see baby animals everywhere. How about where you are? Do you still have snow, or do you see signs of re-growth also?

Just as we experience Seasons in nature, a spades league goes through seasons also. There will be times when there is no growth, and you will begin to hear mutterings of how the league is dying. But given time, and steady hands and heads in leadership, just like the change in seasons, you will again see new growth.

As a matter of fact, in my part of the country, there are numerous Vineyards and Wineries. One of the fascinating things about grape vines is that the farmer has to prune the grapevines in such a way that you look at them and think they will never grow again. But not only do they grow, but they bear much more fruit than they would have without the pruning.

Life is like that too. And a league, made up of real live people, with real lives, is like that. Foreverspades has been around for 12 years, and it is my belief, that no matter what the changes, what the pruning, there will always be new life, and we truly will have forever to go.
