A few members have suggested a recipe swap and in the near future we hope to have that set up where you can submit recipes for others to use and enjoy! For those that Pray We have several unspoken requests and this time of year can be very hard on people so remember these in your prayers that they find peace and joy this holiday season.  Maggy's Corner T’was the Night Before Christmas T'was the night before Christmas when all through ForeverSpades, Not a member was stirring, not even the Mouse; The stockings were hung on the Christmas Tourney Pages with care, In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there; The members were nestled all snuggly in the Beetle Spot, While visions of Big Bux wins danced in their heads; And my partner in her kerchief and I in my cap, Had just settled in for a Regular Ag tourneys win and the bux; When into the lobby there rose such a clatter, I sprang into action, im'ing all members to see what was the matter. Away to the game tables I flew like a flash, Clicking on the kibitz button, and kibitzing away. The cards at the tables with kibbs all on Gave such luster to my eyes to see all the cards, what a view! When what to my wondering eyes should appear, But a sleigh in the lobby, and Eight Funny Reindeer, oh dear! With a little ole driver, so lively and quick, I knew in a moment it must be Jan, the HA! More rapid than eagles her League Rules did appear, She typed in the lobby, she SHOUTED, and called them by name; Now, Rookie, now Sandy, now Pinkladyspady, and Rainbow! On, Mouse, on Missstormy on Beauty and Jr Admin! To all the game tables you fly, get out the Rules! Now dash away dash away dash away all! As diligent admin, dutifully to tables they all flew, When meeting with an obstacle, They keep members happiness in mind too! With the sleigh full of Bux and our HA too! And then, in a twinkling, I heard in the lobby; The cheering and glee of each of our members; As I looked at my table, there were no kibbs on. The lobby again so quiet it was, as game play resumed! Looking out in the lobby our HA was still there, Merrily helping out the New Members! As she linked them to ForeverSpades League Page; And a bundle of knowledge she did share! Her words --- how welcoming with guidance bestowed! With instructions on game links, jump numbers and backdoors! She introduced all the HTDS, TDs, and Members alike, Mentioned Small windows, League rules, Steady Play and the Jailhouse! You could hear her chuckle, as she mentioned TD Applications and the great pay! One knew in an instant this was a League of Family and Friends! Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread; Welcoming each new member as she gifted bux! Winners announced for each round and game play progressed, And not a disappointed member in ForeverSpades was to be found! Members stocking where filled with the bux that they won! The lobby was bustling, as their Expectations where met! Then as Finals where called, as I knew in an instant they’ll start! And as Members waited patiently for partners and the next tourney to start; I saw her exclaim just before she disappeared out of sight; “MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT!”

I have been in this league over 3 years now! I
have yet to figure out why we have so many rules? Can you
explain this to me? I love playing but sometimes have a slip
of the tongue, get booted and sometimes, I just plain get
frustrated with other members. I even have tried getting
into a tourney at 3 after and find that it has closed and
the td won’t
reopen it? Why Why Why is my question?

 Dear y y y: Dear Y_Y_Y When I was a mere tadpole in this pond, I wondered the same thing. But after observing time after time, it began to make sense. It seems when people can find a loophole, they take advantage of it, and left unattended, it becomes a real problem. To avoid further problems, a rule was set in place with penalties for not following them. For example, there were no rules against misbids, and one team knew there was no way to make an 11 bid in a forced bid game, so rather than bid their 11 bid and lose 110 pts, they chose to misbid and skip hand. Is that fair? Of course it's not so a penalty had to be placed for misbids. Most of the league players had played in rated games and saw the cheating and stalling and disrespect shown to everyone, so we opted to play league games. A league is only as good as it's governing body, therefore, penalties were placed on those that couldn't adhere to their rules. I realize to a newcomer, these rules can be overwhelming, and like you said, darn right scary, but my advice is to just try to treat everyone with respect and with a smile, and remember "it's only a game". Now, trying to join a tourney after start time. This is a touchy subject, but, if the tournament director kept allowing people to get in after the posted start time, the 8 pm would be starting around 9 45. You see it as no big deal to reopen and let me sign up for it, but, remember that you only make one and this will require waiting for another to join, and thats not fair to those that signed up for it before the start time. Set your clocks about 5 minutes early if you are the type of individual that is late all the time. Speaking of late, I better get some more supper before dark sooo see ya next time. Andy

Special note from me beauty_aka_ann: As this year comes to a close; I want to take a moment to thank foreverspades members and staff for all the blessings i get from each of you. Spading and running tourneys is a blessing to me and being able to do it with such great people really makes it special. I enjoy being an admin and td on foreverspades. I appreciate Maggy and her hard work and ideas and thank her for joining me on the newsletter to make it a team. I also appreciate members feedback and submissions they make for the newsletter; and the staff for their special tourneys and time they take running tourneys for all the members. I look forward to the upcoming 2014 and everything we do during that time. I want to wish each of you a safe peaceful and joyful holiday season.
