I don't know about you all, but I am starting to
sense something in the air--something eerie and weird. Oh my! I know
what it is. It is plans for a Halloween Masquerade party. Please
join us on Tuesday, October 30, at 8:00 p.m.
You may want to start planning your costume and
getting into your character, because there will be prizes and lots
of fun. Look for more details soon.
Here are some of our specials from last month: The guys won the
Battle of the Sexes. Congrats to willdoanythingtwice and
johnnymack1966. Our Tag Team winners were joeiison, keylivly,
spadez96792, and lin_ben1959. And our staff won the Members vs.
Staff tour last month. WTG forevers_alex and amysmom_forever.
Did you know our league is kicking! As of today, we
are still holding the #1 spot for the largest yahoo spades league.
I've seen a few five-round tours lately. I am not sure if you
realize this, but we are one of the few leagues who does not
manipulate our rankings. If we have a member who is in the top 10,
they earned it by playing their way up, not by winning a tournament.
Welcome to the new 45 members who joined last month. Thanks to all
of you members who helped them and greeted them in the lobby. This
is your league, and it takes all of us to make it welcoming. It is
so important to make this a fun, drama free place, because that is
why our league is so successful.
Some of the best times are those spent visiting with each other in
the lobby. I have laughed so hard, I couldn't even read the monitor.
As much fun as it is, there is another way you can kill time in
between tournaments. Grab 3 league buddies and do a league game.
Everyone agree on hand count, game, and game rules (usually like on
a tourney page). I suggest you agree to have losers report to the
league before leaving the game table. Simply click standings tab,
then report loss. What a fun way to add your favorite game in. This
is different than a "formal challenge."
A formal challenge has very specific rules and is always regular
spades, no dnils, and play to 500. You can click on "league rules"
from the main page to learn more about formal challenges.
We added a new TD to our staff (dustinpeters108).
Welcome to TD Land Dustin. I know you had an awesome trainer
(beauty_with_desire5), so you are surely off to a good start.
Looking forward to playing in your tours.
Our Admin and TD Manager (jzimmie99) asked me to give a huge thank
you to ALL the Tds who consistently run great tours, with patience
and humor, and always are there to step in when a tour is needed. I
agree. Thanks to our TDs for hosting 335 tours last month with a
special thanks to alltheloveinside, mjohn3507, Forevers_Alex, and
bingomom392003 for hosting 25 or more tournaments last month.
As you can see, we need a few more TDs, so if you have a love for
the league and spades, please consider joining our staff. You don't
have to host 25 tours a month. All you have to do is throw one in
once or twice a week. No experience is needed. We have some awesome
trainers, who will stay with you until you feel comfortable hosting
solo. The TD app is on the main page.
Well, I guess that is about all the news I can think of for now, so
I will just close and leave you with a little smile....
Halloween was confusing. All my life my parents said, "Never take
candy from strangers." And then they dressed me up and said, "Go beg
for it." I didn't know what to do. I'd knock on people's doors and
go, "Trick or treat . . . no thank you." ~ Rita Rudner
Hope to see you all at the Halloween masquerade. In the meantime,
eat, drink, and be scary.
See you in the lobby,
