“DOG DAYS OF
SUMMER” |

The “dog days of summer”
seems to be natural expression since dogs pant and lie as flat on
the ground as they can do to avoid the heat.
Is it so hot that even a dog does not want to go
outside? Or maybe it's just because it's the time of year when
even a dog is too hot to out and go fetch. The true meaning of
“dog days of summer” really has nothing to do with dogs! |

At the hour a td will never close if autos are uneven so all
will have a partner. But if you have a team in with no partner a
td still must close and the team will be dropped.
Please help a td by having your teams filled asap and if you
haven't gotten your partner in by 5 minutes til please consider
going auto so that the td will have no problem closing and all can
play. |

Its origin dates back to the
ancient Egyptians who held that the appearance of Sirius, the Dog
Star, in the early morning sky added its heat to our suns to
produce especially hot sultry days and a late-season hot spell.
The "dog" in this saying refers to
Sirius, the brightest star in the night sky which rises and sets
with the Sun. The ancient Egyptians named the star Sirius after
their God Osirus, whose head resembled that of a dog. |
We have

Both ancient Egyptians and Romans
believed that the combination of the brightest luminary of the day
(the sun) and the brightest star of night (Sirius) was responsible
for the extreme heat and hot sultry days.
Early July begins the "dog days
of summer" which lasts until early September. Depending on
latitude and climate, the actual dates vary greatly from region to
region. Nearly everyone has heard this expression and knows that
it refers to the hottest, most sultry days of summer. Today it’s a
time to be laid back and carefree while sipping iced tea in sleepy
contemplation. |

Watch the summer sky Forevers for
the Dog Star, Sirius.
It can be seen with the naked eye. The star will appear to be
brilliant white tinged with blue. When the air is unsteady, or
when the star is low on the horizon it seems to flicker and
splinter with all the colors of the rainbow. I've seen it have

Dear Andy, I really need your help. I love
playing in the league and doing what I do. I don't think other
members really like me. I don't always win but do on occasion. I
am not a bad player however. I often and find it very difficult to
get a partner at times. Sometimes I feel others are picking on me.

Well, this old frog has been around in this
pond for a long time and I have learned a lot. I am sorry to hear
you are feeling unwanted, but, I know that often times these
feelings are brought on by our own insecurities. We tend to
presume that others don't like us because they don't speak to us,
when really they are busy with home life or other problems. I am
sure that it's not a matter of wins or losses, because even I join
auto team due to no one asking me to partner. Hang in there and
don't let your mind play tricks with you into thinking that you
are unliked, because, in all honesty, there's no one in this pond
that I don't like.
Whoa, I see a great big grasshopper! I don't want him feeling
"unwanted"! Gotta run, supper's getting cold!!
